  ■ 科目のねらい
  
  
 This course aims to increase student confidence in communicating in English and instill the realisation that English is a living language used by people worldwide.(DPに対応する中項目:③⑧)
  ■ 授業の概要
  
  
 All students have studied English for many years.  One main aim of this course is to help students remembe
r and produce that English in easy situations which deal with everyday conversations and scenarios.  Classes
 will be largely practical.  Students will practice Q&A patterns, conversations and role-playing.  Students 
will be tested both individually and in small groups.

  Students will be able to hold easy, understandable conversations in English.
  Students will be able to understand a wide range of basic English vocabulary.
  Students will be able to express themselves in a series of speaking tests.
  Students will learn that English is a living language.
  ■ 単位認定の要件
  
  
  A passing grade will be awarded to students who attend at least 2/3 of classes and complete assignments and tests (3 speaking tests 30% each, classwork and homework assignments 40%).

  Students will evaluate previous classes (30-40 mins), prepare for future classes (30-40 mins) and rehears
e outside of class for presentations (2-3 hours).

  Feedback will be both on an individual and groups basis, with an emphasis on self-evaluation.

  All necessary materials will be handed out in class. Students should prepare an A4 file to keep handouts.

  An important point of the course is for students to realise that English is not Grammar / Translation. It 
is a tool for communicating. Therefore active participation is very important in this class. Good Luck!
